When a company gets it wrong, and you have no recourse
Just one of many being ripped off by a large company.
EDIT: UPDATE 10/30/2022 — I have received numerous requests for help. I apologize as I hadn’t checked this site for a few weeks as I do work a full time job as well as trying to remodel my house, so I have been slow to catch up on this. I am going to reach out to the employee of my local Attorney General that helped me and discuss a few things to possibly help others. When I receive an update – I will put something together for everyone.
I made this website to show how “Activision Blizzard, Inc.” steals from the same consumers that made them the large company that they are today. If I can save one consumer from certain exploitation from “Activision Blizzard, Inc.“, then the money I have put into this domain was worth it.
I just want to share my experience in the hopes that I prevent others from suffering the same fate I did – wasting money on a game from a company that happily takes it back without true cause, deciding that you don’t get to use the services you paid for because their own systems are poorly designed. I just want to stand up for the other small voices who were stolen from by this company. While ‘stolen’ is quite the accusation, it is simply the truth in my case.
UPDATE: May 4th, 2022. Activision has decided to reverse my ban after I took this issue to my state’s attorney general. As I have said, if there was true proof that I cheated I would have accepted the ban, but there wasn’t, and I know I didn’t – so it is nice to see that someone at Activision used common sense, but it is sad to see that they still want to play the “we detected tampering” card when we know it isn’t true, hence why I believe they reversed the ban. Don’t defraud consumers if you don’t want to deal with the recourse. Nothing is more infuriating than somebody questioning your integrity when you know the accusations are false.

One thing that I was sour about even after getting my account back, I paid for season 1 battlepass and was nearly complete when this happened, and it is now Season 3. So, I didn’t get to finish season 1 and get the last few items, missed season 2 completely and here we are now in Season 3. I shouldn’t have to be “thankful” that I got my account back when I didn’t even do what they insist I did – and still have yet to accept my offer to figure out what triggered it so it can be avoided in the future.

Why I spent money on this site instead of buying the game again.
On 2/8/2022 – around 2pm I opened Vanguard – and at the same time opened ReoLink (security cam software) and checked it to see what my doggo was doing outside, then closed it. Vanguard crashed within a minute of launching, so once it completed the process of crashing (allowing me to relaunch the game) – I launched it again and was given the choice of safe boot, I declined, and the game opened just fine. I was playing for about 10 minutes when I was disconnected and given the notice of being banned. Whether you want to believe me or not, I didn’t cheat/modify the game. I appealed and they declined and insisted I did. That left me with no options on that account. I have offered 100% transparency to this company to show that they are 100% wrong on this, but they have offered 0% transparency in return. Do I have to buy 1 share of your stock and call myself an investor before you listen to me?
Okay – so just make a new account and buy the game again? Sure – but here’s the thing, I REALLY have no idea what triggered it on their end – and they won’t offer the slightest assistance to help me identify if something on my PC falsely triggered it. There is nothing on my PC that would / could be used to cheat, I primarily just play Overwatch, or browse reddit, watch youtube and check facebook. I built a new PC on Christmas and right after that, I purchased Vanguard – excited to have a PC that would run it well. I have plenty of steam games I play occasionally and never have I had an issue in any steam or blizzard game until now.
I had no significant system installs/uninstalls around that day here in the event manager outside of system updates.
I have gone through every program on my PC and not a single one screams out to me that it would trigger Activision to think I was cheating. The only thought I had was when it crashed, something was messed up and I paid the price for it. Maybe, maybe not – I am just trying to figure out what triggered it and am at a loss. I would like to continue to play the game, but after having 60 bucks essentially taken from me for something I didn’t do, regardless if you believe me or not – I am extremely hesitant to purchase it again if I will just get banned again for something that I am completely unaware of. This is why I want to make others aware of how I was burned by this company.
I really don’t know what my next steps are – do I wipe my PC – hoping whatever triggered it with “Activision Blizzard, Inc.” is gone after I install the bare minimum of what I want reinstalled and then buy it again? Or was it caused by the game crashing making it possible to happen again and make wiping the PC a futile effort? I have no idea, and “Activision Blizzard, Inc.” is of no help.
There is zero consumer protection with this. You pay a company money for them to happily take it, and a month later, take the product back from you and offer no money back, because they THINK you did something that you did not do, and then refuse to be transparent when you inquire about it and request proof – because they know they screwed up and won’t admit it.
If Activision Blizzard, Inc. can prove me wrong, I will donate $250 to a charity of their choice.

Where not a single program can be identified as causing a trigger for cheating, as well as showcasing the unedited logs from battle.net where it outlines my launching of the game and its failure, then ban.

Selling a faulty product, with faulty systems behind it – zero transparency and zero ownership, resulting in a company that defrauds consumers left and right.
Below are my game settings pulled directly from Documents\Call of Duty Vanguard\players – “adv_opinions.ini” file – exactly how they were when I was banned

Unauthorised software = any third party software that interacts with CoD in any way other than recording etc. Something on your PC entered the code used it for something, even if you didn’t do it, something did and that’s why. Was a big thing on Destiny a couple of years ago.

Players who don’t block real cheaters, but come to ban normal games? I questioned that the new anti-cheat system has always had bugs, killing a thousand enemies and losing eight hundred

You’re doing the lords work, I hope this gets more attention because it’s insane. I download a game before work in hopes to have a sweet Friday night with my friends online for the first time in a year and they ban me 2 hours into playing after the game crashed about 5 times. They they call me a cheater!? That’s what hurt the most, not the large download, not getting made fun of by my friends, but the fact that they think I care that much about cod to cheat. I would never cheat at a game, it robs you of what the game is supposed to be, and they have forced this ideal on me now that I’m not content. That I must have more than what I can bring to the game myself. To have to channel to appeal this reasonably is, to me, the worst thing a company can do.

The exact same happened to me in MW 2019 and it has carried over into MW2.
This is a question of principle for me now and I am looking at options for starting a class action suit against Activision but I am not sure if it is possible as I live in the UK.
They are a disgrace of a company and like you all I want is the opportunity to work with someone at Activision to understand what has gone wrong in their system.
But its pretty much a rigged game once the system automatically issues the ban.
If I was guessing they probably have a miniscule team to actually do any investigation of the bans resulting in them sending out the copy paste responses without ever truly trying to work out why someone with a terrible KD, who purchases battle packs etc deserves to be banned.

Never got to even load up multi-player on MW2. Played the campaign through and the beta no problem. Had multiple crashes while loading into MP menu and on the 2nd or 3rd crash it stated I was banned. I was shocked to say the least. Never have cheated in my life in any video game. I’m appalled that they would think this is OK and get away with stealing THOUSANDS from their long time player base. Absolute sham of a company. I’m still able to play warzone and the previous titles, just not MW2 that I paid $100 for. I will never support another Activision title as long as I live.

this company is true scum; entirely disgusting practices; it seems like their employees think they’re right about these bans, too.
i would not be surprised to hear of a class action lawsuit in the next few weeks.

I bought modern warfare II and played for about 40 minutes. Then my game game crashed during a mission. I then verified my files on steam. Then I started up the game and it says that I have been permanently banned? With the reason CASERMA – RHINO. I dont have a vac ban on my steam account and I am suddenly banned on my activision and battle net account.

Same boat here. Permaban for no good reason. I did nothing wrong. Played through some of the campaign, decided to try multiplayer for 20 minutes, and then the next day I get the same message that everyone else is getting.
American Express refunded my purchase since Steam rejected it (they banned me at 12 hours — 2 hours over the limit for refund).
I’m most concerned with what happens now to my other accounts. I’ve read on Reddit that some users’ Xbox accounts, Steam Accounts, etc. are all flagged because of the Activision ban.
If that’s the case, there’s a real serious legal complaint here I think.

Thank you, I appreciate people like you so much when bad companies try to take peoples hard earned money. Literally played 3 games of the beta just to crash on multiple occasions and then the next day I get on and I’m banned, I was genuinely starting to think I was one of the only ones for a while.. I feel like Activision does something like this and then thinks they can just brush it under the rug but no, people like you make it easier for people like us to to flip off big corps that try to abuse and or “sweep it under the rug”. Just wanted to get my name out here and hopefully we start to get some answers.

Hey Afternoon everyone, I’ve just woke up to my modern warfare 2 account being banned because its detected tampering with the programs data. When i have done no such thing. The issue i’ve been experiencing was when i launched the game it would keep prompting me to update my graphics drivers, and the nag screen won’t go away unless i hit ignore and continue to my game. I would usually start up a match of dmz like always, making it out on first exfil just fine and the second time deploy on dmz my game would crash minutes or even seconds after I spawn on the map. (Crash would usually happen when i kill my first NPC on the map, aim down sights, or jump.\[yes jumping\])
I’ve decided to go through a list of instructions online to help fix my issue.
My first instruction i was given was to reinstall my graphics drivers, done, still get same popup when loading mwii even after i was banned. Your Grapics card drivers version is 0.0.0 please update to 23.4.2 AMD Graphics Driver. game would only give me two prompts to update or ignore
The other method i’ve tried is to debloat windows, using winbox tools, to get rid of xbox overlays, and dvr/recording. That didn’t work either, my game took longer to crash but still had the same issue.
Then, i’ve decided to install a antivirus on my pc to see if there was anything messing with my game. the antivirus i used was cisco amp endpoints, it detected nothing on the pc.
I was frustrated, i decided to go to sleep and try some more solutions in the morning, just to wake up to my modern warfare 2 account being permantly banned. I was pissed off when i saw it. I tried to submit an appeal with my statement towards the issue and the only thing they’ve replied and I quote.
“`
Hello Wayne,Your appeal has been reviewed and we’ve confirmed with our security team that your account has been permanently banned for using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data. As you were the account holder at the time of infraction, your ban will not be overturned.
To preserve the integrity of our security systems and detection methods, this is the only information our policy allows us to share regarding your case. This decision is final and your case is now closed. In case you are currently playing any other Activision titles and for future reference, please avoid any of these types of violations to keep your account in good standing.

“`Wow, so, not only do they completely ignore my appeal, but they have the nerve to close my ticket like nothing ever happened. I’m outraged. and don’t know what to do from here. I don’t want to rebuy the game because i’ve worked hard to obtain the items i’ve had, especially from the beta, season 1. the battle passes, the gun skins/stickers obtained from call of duty warzone mobile limited release, My progression, my limited burgerking and beef jerky skins, and an ethan skin i’ve decided to purchase. Gone…
I need help guys, i don’t know what todo from here. I’m willing to grab a log of everything i’ve done on this pc, provide recording of me playing on dmz, tdm, warzone, etc, show them everything i have on my pc, and even hell even have my hard drive and ssd searched to appeal this ban. but i dont know what todo, i need help.

I’m under review at the moment and don’t know why, if it does turn into a permanent ban, what info is needed for my Virginia State Attorney General?

I’m a little late to the party but I’ve been banned from MW2019 since 2021. I installed a second SSD in my PS5 and moved the game to the second SSD because it was taking up literally half of my PS5s space. The game was really buggy and I was having issues so I moved it back to the main SSD and logged out for the night. Came back a week later and logged into a ban message. “unauthorized game data modification”. Submitted 20+ tickets and no dice. Activison is playing hard ball. Submitted complaints to state attorney general and BBB and Activision is sticking to their guns hard.

Any idea what specific action to take on this issue if you reside in the UK?

this happended to me just now on 6-09-2023, i was wrongfuly accused,i did not use any 3rd software party or anything to cheat on call of duty, but thats not the worst part, because of that i got a vac ban on steam, wich lowers my rep has a player, people start reporting you for no reason in cs2 and that makes you a low trust factor in it, wich essencialy puts you with cheaters, this sucks and needs to be fixed, as i can see them using this as a propaganda to say that they got more cheaters when in fact their anticheat is putting people who doent deserve it behind the bars

How do I get my account back. I was falsely banned after season 5 update came. I’ve never cheated and had been a casual xbox player of cod for 15 years. I don’t understand why I would be banned. Don’t use no software that don’t come with the game.

hello, can you help me out. Apparently they banned a bunch of people the last couple days. Someone wrote on twitter that their own anti cheat found itself and considered that as a cheat. I appealed the ban and they sent me the same thing they sent you. What steps should I take next.
